NuVista Federal Credit Union which was originally Montrose Federal Credit Union was established in 1964. It was built on honesty, integrity and self worth. We hold that same foundation today. When first opened the credit union was for federal employees only. Times have changed and we know now that the support of the community as a whole is what helps us to thrive. We changed our name on January 1, 2008 to reflect our growth in membership, and our coverage area that is not limited to just Montrose.
Mission
Empowering communities by promoting the financial well-being of our members and helping them on their path to financial freedom.
Core Values
Honesty, Integrity & Self Worth
Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Montrose, Delta, Gunnison, Ouray and San Miguel counties.
NuVista is locally owned, by you! Everyone who deposits their opening membership share in the amount of $25 in an account is part owner of the credit union. What does that mean? You have a say in the products and services that we offer and your personal needs are addressed right here locally in your very own community by people who live here too!
Your savings are federally insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency.
We invite you to take advantage of our great rates on savings as well as loans. We invite you to share in a dynamic way of lending. And last but not least we invite you to be a part of services that are driven by only one thing… you!
Volunteer Opportunities
Opportunities await NuVista Credit Union members who are interested in a volunteer position at the credit union. Volunteering on the Board of Directors is a great way to become involved in the "people helping people" philosophy of the Credit Union Movement.
Board members serve a three-year term, and are elected each year during the NuVista Annual Membership meeting in March. You must be a primary member of the credit union (in good standing) prior to applying for any volunteer position.
The volunteer structure is the backbone of our credit union and of the entire credit union movement. Volunteers act as the member's representative; they must always keep the member's best interest in mind. Members will elect those individuals who they feel will confidentially protect their interests and assure the future viability of the credit union. All decisions must be made with integrity and respect for all NuVista Credit Union members.
Board Member: Maintain the general direction and control of NuVista Federal Credit Union. This includes guiding the credit union to fulfill its purpose; setting all policies that guide the affairs of the credit union; and ensuring these policies are properly implemented by following the credit union charter, bylaws, applicable laws, sound business practices and the membership's desires.
Supervisory Committee Member: The basic role of the supervisory committee is to represent the membership. In addition they are responsible for reviewing activities of the board, management and staff to assure the following: complete and accurate financial records are prepared; internal controls, policies, and procedures are maintained and followed as determined by NCUA regulations and the board and management make decisions and take actions that are consistent with the best interests of the membership. This Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors on a three year term basis.
