Membership

You can join by completing our secure membership application online or by visiting us in person at any branch. You'll need to open a Share (Savings) Account with a minimum deposit of $25.00 to establish your membership.

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Montrose, Delta, Gunnison, Ouray, or San Miguel counties.

You need to open and maintain a Share (Savings) Account with a minimum deposit of $25.00. This $25 represents your ownership share in the credit union and must remain on deposit to keep your account open.

Yes! Once a member, always a member. Your membership stays with you no matter where you live or work, as long as you maintain your accounts in good standing.

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives. This means profits are returned to members through better rates, lower fees, and improved services. As a member-owner, you have a voice in how the credit union operates.

Yes! Your deposits are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000, providing the same protection as FDIC insurance for banks.

Rates & Interest

Rates are reviewed weekly and may change based on market conditions. The rates shown on this page reflect our current rates as of the date listed. We recommend contacting us for the most up-to-date rates before opening an account or applying for a loan.

APY (Annual Percentage Yield) is the total amount of interest you earn on an account over one year, including the effect of compounding. The interest rate is the percentage used to calculate interest, while APY shows the actual return you'll receive. APY is typically higher than the interest rate because it accounts for compound interest.

Some accounts may have maintenance fees or minimum balance requirements. Fees can reduce your earnings, so it's important to review the account terms and conditions. Our team can help you choose an account that minimizes fees while maximizing your returns.

The rates shown are "as low as" rates for qualified borrowers. Your actual rate will depend on your credit history, income, loan amount, and other factors. We offer competitive rates for a wide range of credit profiles. Contact us for a personalized rate quote based on your specific situation.

For certificates and some loan products, you can lock in a rate when you open the account. For variable-rate accounts like savings and checking, rates may change with market conditions. Our team can explain which products offer rate locks and help you choose the best option for your financial goals.

Auto Loans

Have a valid ID, proof of income (recent pay stubs or tax returns), and proof of residence. If you've chosen a vehicle, bring basic info (VIN, mileage, purchase price). For pre-approval, vehicle details aren't required yet.

Yes. If your current loan is with another lender, NuVista may be able to lower your rate or monthly payment—possibly both—by refinancing your loan with us.

Many applications receive same-day decisions. Online applications typically get a response within 1–2 business days. Pre-approvals generally remain valid for about 30 days so you can shop with confidence.

Choose a shorter term to own your vehicle sooner and pay less in total interest, or select a longer term for the lowest possible monthly payments.* We'll help you find the balance that fits your budget.

GAP (Guaranteed Asset Protection) helps cover the difference between your insurance settlement and your remaining loan balance if your vehicle is totaled or stolen. GAP covers the difference between the market value of your vehicle and the loan balance, less delinquent payments, late charges, refundable service warranty contract and other related insurance charges.
GAP also covers the following: Motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, golf carts, travel trailers, motor homes, and RV's.

A VSA is optional extended coverage that helps pay for covered repairs after your manufacturer's warranty ends. Plans vary, but commonly include major components and roadside benefits. It can reduce surprise repair costs and help keep your vehicle on the road.

No prepayment penalty. You can make extra payments or pay off your loan early anytime to save on interest.

Business Loans

Bring a valid photo ID, business formation documents (e.g., articles of organization/incorporation), EIN or SSN (as applicable), recent financials, and ownership details. We'll let you know if additional items are needed based on your request.

Most requests receive quick, local decisions. Timelines vary by loan type and documentation—your lender will set clear expectations up front.

A line of credit is revolving—you borrow only what you need and pay interest on the outstanding balance. A term loan provides a lump sum with fixed or variable payments over a defined period. We'll help you decide which fits your cash flow.

We review each request individually. Bring your business plan, projected financials, and any collateral available—we'll explore options together.

Many business loans at NuVista have no prepayment penalty. Your lender will review terms for your specific loan.

Services

Online Banking

Enrolling is quick and easy. Click the "Enroll" button on our Online Banking page or visit our login page and select "Enroll Now." You'll need your account number and Social Security number. The process takes just a few minutes, and you'll have immediate access once complete.

Yes. We use bank-grade encryption, multi-factor authentication, and continuous fraud monitoring to protect your accounts. Your login sessions automatically timeout after periods of inactivity, and we'll alert you immediately if we detect any suspicious activity.

Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page to reset your password. If you're locked out after multiple failed login attempts, call Member Services at (888) 261‑7488 and we'll help you regain access. We make decisions and service your accounts locally.

Yes. You can link external accounts from other financial institutions and transfer funds between them. External transfers typically take 1–3 business days to complete. Internal transfers between your NuVista accounts are instant.

Once logged in, navigate to your account and select "Statements" or "Documents." You can view, download, or print statements and check images going back several years. We recommend enrolling in eStatements to go paperless and access documents faster.

No. Online Banking is free for all members. Bill Pay is also free when you have a checking account. There are no monthly fees or transaction limits for standard online banking activities.

Bill Pay

Log in to Online Banking, open Bill Pay, choose your checking account, and add your first payees. After payees are set up in your browser, you can schedule and manage payments in Online or Mobile Banking. Bill Pay is a free service when you have a NuVista checking account.

You can schedule one-time or recurring payments for utilities, rent, mortgage, subscriptions, and more. You can also pay people you know—like a landlord or caregiver. Choose the send date and track delivery with payment history.

Yes. Bill Pay uses multi-factor authentication, encryption, and fraud monitoring to help protect your payments. You can set payment alerts and confirmations for added peace of mind. Bill Pay is free when you have a NuVista checking account. There are no monthly fees or per-payment charges.

Mobile Banking

Download the NuVista Mobile Banking app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Search for "NuVista Federal Credit Union" or use the download links on our Mobile Banking page. Sign in with your Online Banking username and password.

No. Mobile Banking uses the same username and password as Online Banking. If you're a first-time user, sign up for Online Banking in a browser first, then use those credentials to sign in to the app.

You can check balances, view transactions, transfer funds, make loan payments, pay bills, deposit checks with Mobile Deposit, set alerts, manage card controls, send secure messages, and find branch and ATM locations—all from your phone.

Open the app and choose Mobile Deposit. Enter the amount and select your NuVista checking account. Take clear photos of the front and back of the check, then submit. Endorse the back and write "For mobile deposit only at NuVista FCU." Keep the check for at least 30 days. Daily limit is $2,000 (up to 3 checks); monthly limit is $5,000 (up to 10 checks). Funds are generally available within three business days.

Yes. Mobile Banking uses Face ID, Touch ID, or device biometrics for secure access. We also use multi-factor authentication, device recognition, encryption, timeout protections, and continuous fraud monitoring to protect your accounts.

Daily limit: $2,000 (up to 3 checks). Monthly limit: $5,000 (up to 10 checks). Funds are generally available within three business days; earlier at our discretion.

Insurance

The Insurance Center is conveniently located right where you bank at NuVista Federal Credit Union. This makes it easy to handle all your financial and insurance needs in one convenient location.

Simply schedule an appointment with Dallas Grabow and his team. They will provide personalized quotes for all your insurance needs, including auto, home, health, commercial, life, and disability insurance.

We offer comprehensive insurance coverage including auto (cars, trucks, SUVs, ATVs, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, classic cars), home (homeowners, renters, condos, flood, manufactured homes, umbrella coverage), health (individual, group, Medicare supplements and plans), commercial (business, farm and ranch, workers' compensation, general liability), life (term, whole, universal), and disability insurance (short and long term).

Community Development

Scholarships

The scholarship is open to all high school seniors graduating in spring 2025 who will be entering an accredited college, university, or technical school in fall 2025. Applicants must be NuVista Credit Union members or live in the same household as a NuVista member with accounts in good standing. NuVista employees, officials, and immediate family members are NOT eligible.

You'll need to upload the following documents in PDF format: your transcript, resume, one letter of recommendation (minimum 150 words) from a sibling/step-sibling or friend, and both essays in one document. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the Committee.

Scholarship winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2025. The Scholarship Committee's decisions are final, and the scholarships are non-transferable.

Scholarship funds are intended for tuition, books, and/or other fees associated with enrollment. The funds will be dispersed to your college of choice after you submit documentation of enrollment (such as a class schedule, receipt of payment, or other enrollment documentation) to the credit union.

Yes! Applicants receiving other scholarships are still eligible to win a NuVista Scholarship. We encourage students to apply for multiple scholarship opportunities.
