Three Board Positions Available for Election

Nominations close February 12th, 2021

 Jon Waschbusch has served in various leadership roles for Montrose County, and is currently the Deputy County Manager and Director of Government Affairs/Natural Resources Division.  Jon has extensive knowledge of NuVista and its Membership.  He has served as Chairman of the Board since March 2016.  In addition to his leadership on the Board, Jon provides oversight of all strategic initiatives including setting and meeting CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) specific goals.  Jon oversees all financial performance of the Credit Union, ensuring its financial safety and soundness.  Jon also serves on the Executive Loan Committee. 

 Vanessa Ellis is a lifelong resident of Montrose.  She has been a Member of NuVista for over 30 years.  Vanessa is a retired banker, with experience in personal lending and loan operations.  In March 2018, she was appointed to the NuVista Supervisory Committee. In May 2018, she resigned her position on the Supervisory Committee and started her new role on the Board of Directors as Treasurer.   Vanessa also serves on the Executive Loan Committee. 

 Virgil Turner moved to Montrose with his family in 1984 and became a member of NuVista in 1992. Since 1988, Virgil has worked for the City of Montrose and currently serves as its Director of Innovation and Citizen Engagement.   In 2016, Virgil was appointed to serve on the NuVista Supervisory Committee.  Since 2017, he has been on the Board of Directors.  In the community and related to our Credit Union’s focus on increasing affordable housing, Virgil also serves on the Montrose County Housing Authority.  He wholeheartedly believes in the cooperative spirit of credit unions and in the positive impact they can have on lives of their members.


The election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when the number of nominees equals the number of positions to be filled.  Nominations by petition will close on 2/12/2021. Nominations may also be made by petition signed by 1% of the Members with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 500.  Nominations by petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the Nominee or Nominees agreeing to the nomination and stating they will serve if elected.
